The crash happened here: I635 at mile marker 4.9 northbound or I635 two tenths of a mile miles north of I70.

Vehicle 1 [the 2023 Freightliner Semi Tractor driven by John Mbera] was traveling Eastbound on the ramp from I70 Eastbound to I635 Northbound. Vehicle 2 [the 1996 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Dwyane Stout] was traveling Northbound on I635 in lane #2. Vehicle 1 [the 2023 Freightliner Semi Tractor driven by John Mbera] failed to negotiate the curve on the ramp, ran off the road to the right, and struck Vehicle 2 [the 1996 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Dwyane Stout]. Both vehicles came to a rest in the right side ditch.

Injuries

Torres's injuries were minor. Torres was taken by ambulance to Ku Medical Center.

Vehicle Damage

The police said the 2023 Freightliner Semi Tractor with Missouri license plate number 3234332 damage was unknown. This vehicle was insured. The Guarantee Company of North America insured this vehicle. This vehicle was removed by Santa Fe Tow. The police also said, “Vehicle was hauling a 2016 Utility Trailer bearing Indiana Plate P632139.”

How To Get the Highway Patrol Report

The Kansas Highway Patrol trooper with badge number K470 of the Kansas Highway Patrol wrote up the report. The highway patrol assigned report number 2022-005921 to this crash. The KSHP charges $5.00 for each copy of the report plus additional fees of $2.00 for each witness statement. But you can call 877-925-1969 to request a free copy of the report. In order to get the report through the KSHP website, you must create a Kansas.gov account and give them your credit card. You must agree to be subject to Kansas Statute 45-230: Unlawful Use of Names Derived from Public Records. This statute imposes on those subject to it “a civil penalty in an action brought by the attorney general or county or district attorney” of up to “$500 for each violation.” Further, unless you qualify under the Federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act, the report you get will have important and necessary information such as photographs, social security numbers, driver license numbers, names, addresses and telephone numbers redacted (blacked out).
